This is just one of those weeks where I don’t really have much to review, so I’m going to go with another web series on Collegehumor’s Dropout streaming service that I really enjoy. This time I want to review See Plum Run, which is actually kind of a sequel to a series that Collegehumor ran on their YouTube channel a few years back. This series was Precious Plum, which was a parody series of sort. Around this time, the Honey Boo Boo reality series was really popular, and so Precious Plum was a parody of that. It kind of evolved into its own thing, though, and so now See Plum Run is bringing the show back in a new way.

Basically, while the original Precious Plum series was pretty much entirely sketch-based, with the videos being a few minutes long and purely episodic, See Plum Run is a bit more of an actual series. There’s an overarching plot, and the span of season 1 essentially winds up equaling the length of a feature-length film. So, it’s kind of like getting a Precious Plum movie, but in a web series format. The basic premise of See Plum Run just involves Plum running for class president at her new school, with her mama being her campaign manager. Obviously, crazy antics follow.

This is a very niche kind of show, so I’m not going to talk about it too in-depth. Basically, if you liked Precious Plum, I think See Plum Run is a worthy revival of the show. If you haven’t seen Precious Plum, though, watch that first. It’s more accessible, and honestly still a bit funnier than See Plum Run. The humor is definitely still there with See Plum Run, but it’s a bit more grounded, and so it loses some of its appeal. Still, I really enjoyed this series, and so I’m hoping to see more of it from Collegehumor. The two main characters are still just phenomenal, and so they always get some laughs from me.
