Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is the finale in director Kevin Smith’s “New Jersey” saga. And this isn’t hard to see, as references and characters from all four of the past movies: Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, and Dogma, are present. It jams everything together and finally gives the stoners Jay and Silent Bob that are present in all four movies their own adventure. It really is a treat for the fans of the movies.

In this fifth installment, Jay (played by Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob (played by Kevin Smith) find out that a movie adaptation of the comic book “Bluntman and Chronic,” whose characters were modeled after none other than themselves, is being made. They want their cut of the cash on the movie, but find out that they’re not getting anything for it. Furthermore, they discover that people on the internet are talking trash about them, so the two stoners set out to destroy the production of the movie and prevent it from ever being made.

To me, it seems like the movie is more of a fan service than anything. If you don’t like these movies to begin with, this one won’t convert you. However, if you’re a fan of the other movies…you’re sure to love Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. It’s completely awesome.

This was actually the first Kevin Smith movie I’ve ever seen, and it got me interested in the rest of them. And now it’s even more rewarding to watch it again because now I know who all the characters are. There’s appearances abound, and you’re sure to recognize a lot of the awesome cast, such as Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Jason Biggs, George Carlin, Chris Rock, Jason Lee, and many others. It’s an all-around rewarding experience, and I loved it.

Honestly, you have to be a fan of this kind of comedy to enjoy it. It’s vulgar humor at its finest. Me, I absolutely love it, and I think Kevin Smith has come out with some of the greatest comedies ever.
