Every once in a while I see a movie that really stands out, be it for whatever reason. From Dusk Till Dawn is definitely one of those movies, and the reason for that is its style, because it’s almost as if it’s two different movies stuffed into one.

The movie centers around two brothers, Seth and Richard Gecko (played by George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino, respectively). The brothers are huge criminals, and they’re on the run from the FBI. To get away, they plan on crossing the border into Mexico, and to do this they kidnap a pastor (Harvey Keitel!) and his two children to help assist in crossing them over. At this point, the movie is basically just a crime movie. But then about halfway through, without anything indicating that the movie is going to make this turn, they all take refuge in a bar for a night…only to find it’s overrun by vampires. And then the rest of the movie is basically just a huge fight with all the vampires!

It’s such a drastic change that it may be hard for some people to accept. For me, it gave the movie its own originality, and it made the movie awesome. I really enjoyed both halves a lot. The movie was made by Robert Rodriguez, who should be well known in the movie world. That guy can make a movie. Also, along with acting in one of the main roles, Quentin Tarantino helped write the movie. These two together can simply make movie magic. The actors all did a great job as well. Simply put, From Dusk Till Dawn is amazing. The crime drama aspect of it was really well done and tense, and then the vampire part of it was as gory and campy as you could possibly hope. I will say the movie isn’t for everyone, but that’s something you should be able to decide just by hearing about it. If the idea sounds good to you, you likely won’t be disappointed.
