Brooklyn Nine-Nine is my favorite comedy currently on television, hands down, period. It was such a surprising hit to me in its first season, and I was hoping they could keep the great momentum going. Well they did, with the show’s second season being every bit as good as the first one.

As far as story goes, it opens back up months after season 1 ended, with Jake finishing up his undercover mission with the mobsters. From here, he has a nice little subplot where he’s dating a lawyer to try to get over his feelings for Amy. Relationships are running wild among the force actually, with Boyle and Gina continuing their awkward friends with benefits relationship, and even Rosa starts dating Holt’s nephew. Holt finds himself constantly batting heads with his rival, Madeline Wuntch. As for Terry, his character mostly just revolves around whatever is going on in each episode.

These situations provide some really hilarious moments throughout the season, particularly with the Boyle/Gina relationship while it lasts, and especially with Holt’s rivalry with Wuntch. Basically, one of the things I love most about this show is that each character has their own hilarious personality, and each episode always manages to find ways to make their personalities bring out the most in a funny situation in unique ways. Everyone is always used in every episode, and there’s rarely ever any moments where it’s not used to the best comedic effect possible.

Basically, there’s little else I need to say about this season other than it was really fantastic. In fact, I’d even say it’s slightly better than season 1, and that’s just because season 1 had a few episodes that weren’t as memorable as others, whereas when I looked through the list of episodes for season 2, on almost every one of them I was like “oh yeah I loved that one!” There is still one or two that don’t stand out among the rest, but at 23 episodes long that’s bound to happen. I don’t think the season could be much more perfect than it is, so I’d say it deserves a perfect score for maintaining the level of comedy that season 1 provided while also giving us even more funny situations for the characters to be in. Looking forward to season 3.
