I’ll be honest, I had no idea what Zombieland was really even about. I just remember seeing Jesse Eisenberg on the poster for it, and I thought “Huh, weird, this guy has been in two ‘-land’ movies in one year,” the other one being Adventureland, of course. I didn’t know if the two were supposed to be connected in some way because of it, but damn that couldn’t be farther from the truth.

Zombieland is actually a horror comedy movie. What we have here is proof that the zombie genre is indeed not dead. The movie is about a world overrun by zombies, and not many human survivors are left. We are shown a young guy, whose name we’re never truly told, but they just call him Columbus (played by Jesse Eisenberg). Columbus is also the destination where our young hero is trying to get to, hence the name. On his way there, he meets up with three other people, Tallahassee (played by Woody Harrelson) and two sisters, Wichita (played by Emma Stone) and Little Rock (played by Abigail Breslin). There’s not actually much of a plot to it, it’s basically just these four trying to survive in a zombie-ridden world.

The movie is horror comedy at its best. Honestly, the killing and bloodshed is immense, and the laughs are to be had all throughout the movie. It was completely awesome and hilarious the whole time, and I have to say the entertainment value for this movie is through the roof. It’s purely a good time.

I honestly can’t even put into words why this movie is amazing, it just is. It’s hilarious, has awesome characters, a great cast (Woody Harrelson is officially one of my new favorites), fantastic scenes, and it’s just all-around an amazing movie. It’s literally flawless.

Zombieland isn’t even really one of those movies that’s trying to be awesome, but the end result certainly came off like that. At a glance, it may seem like there’s nothing special about the movie, but give it a chance and you’ll probably find that it’s a very enjoyable experience. For me, it became an instant cult classic. I went into the movie not knowing what to expect, but I came out having seen one of the year’s bests.
