Let It Snow is a collaborative effort between three authors…Maureen Johnson, John Green, and Lauren Myracle. I have never read any other works by Johnson or Myracle, and honestly the main reason I read this was just because I want to read all of John Green’s works.

The three authors each write their own separate short stories with different main characters, but all three stories intertwine as they are all set in the town of Gracetown during Christmas (give or take a few days before and after), amid one of the biggest snowstorms ever. Johnson’s story centers around a girl named Jubilee whose train breaks down in Gracetown on her way to Florida, and she’s forced to stay with a boy named Stuart while also dealing with relationship problems from her boyfriend Noah. Green’s story is about a guy named Tobin, who makes a journey through the snowstorm with his friends JP and The Duke, just so they can get to a Waffle House full of cheerleaders. And Myracle’s story revolves around a girl named Addie who is trying to pull her life back together after making the mistake of cheating on her boyfriend Jeb.

How are the stories? Well, the short answer is, pretty good. As I said, I read this book just for Green’s story, which didn’t disappoint as it was hugely entertaining. I also want to give huge credit to Maureen Johnson though, as her portion was just as good (if not better) than Green’s. Myracle’s story wasn’t bad by any means, but truthfully it’s not on the same level as the other two. This is a shame mainly because Myracle’s story is the longest, running 16 chapters, while both Johnson’s and Green’s are 12 each. In fact, if Myracle’s section was a little shorter, it’d probably be better, and the book as a whole would have been amazing. However, even so, the book is really great and blends together a lot of different story elements quite nicely, and intertwines the three stories in a great way. Even ignoring the fact that this is a Christmas book, I’d recommend it as just a great read in general.
