I have to give solid props to this season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. First off, I remember being worried about the show transitioning networks from FOX to NBC, because a lot of times this will change the dynamic of a show, but Brooklyn Nine-Nine has stayed the same show as it’s been the whole time. However, the real impressive thing to me in general is just that I am usually starting to get fatigue with a series by this point in its run, and yet with Brooklyn Nine-Nine it’s now finished its seventh season and I still love it just as much as I always have. The series has managed to stay fresh and hilarious, and nothing has started to remotely feel stale or repetitive.

In terms of storylines, the main continuous thing going on here is that Jake and Amy are now trying to have a baby. This storyline is really endearing, and has just gone on as continuous proof that Jake and Amy are one of the best TV couples right now, being one that you would want to model your own relationship after. Other than this, there aren’t a ton of continuous storylines, although there is a new cop named Debbie that we get to see in a recurring role (although she isn’t part of the main cast or anything). Debbie is a cowardly and incompetent cop, and so her character was one of my favorite additions the show has ever done. I wish Debbie was in more of this season, because she became one of my favorite new characters.

If anyone wants to level any sort of complaint against season 7, I guess the one I could understand the most is that there isn’t a ton of new episode premises this time around. This season is the shortest one yet at 13 episodes, and you have a few of your standard ones that you get every season, such as the Halloween Heist and a Doug Judy episode. However, my argument with this is that even these episodes that we’ve come to expect still feel fresh and hilarious, because the writers manage to put unique twists on them every time so that they always feel like a fun, new experience. And don’t worry, there are still plenty of episodes with completely new plots that are absolutely amazing.

The only times I gave this show a perfect score were with my reviews of seasons 2 and 3, when I felt like the show was at its absolute peak. However, I think that season 7 now deserves another perfect score. I usually stick with shows for their whole run (even when it’s begrudgingly like with a show like The Walking Dead), and I’ve found that most of the time when a show starts getting towards its seventh and eighth seasons, it starts getting really stale. But Brooklyn Nine-Nine has managed to continue making me excited for every new episode, and I always laugh out loud at least 10 times per episode to this day. I continue to feel like this is one of the best comedies on TV right now, and I will continue to say that I think everyone should watch it.
