Believe it or not, this is my favorite Christmas movie. No lie. Some people may say it’s not that good and that there’s a lot of other Christmas classics you would think would be my favorite instead. But nope. There’s just something about The Santa Clause that keeps me coming back every year. I always make sure to watch it every year around Christmas time.

The movie stars Tim Allen, who plays a character named Scott Calvin. His son, Charlie, stays at his house Christmas Eve (Charlie’s mom and dad are separated and Charlie lives with his mom). They’re awoken in the middle of the night by a noise coming from the roof. They go outside to check it out, accidentally scaring Santa in the process, who falls off the roof and dies. Unknowingly, Scott falls subject to The Santa Clause (clause, as in a business contract) and has to become the new Santa, much against his own will.

Even though I’m obviously far past the age of believing in Santa, the movie still fills me with that wonderful Christmas spirit. The kind that reminds you of how great it was to believe in something like Santa. It’s just got a lot of heart to it, it’s actually really funny, and for me it’s just extremely memorable. It’s a movie that will always be etched in my memory, and I don’t see myself ever not coming back to it around Christmas time. And if a movie has that kind of effect on you, how can it not be perfect?
